Anyone who’s passed through Ao Nang during their travels might already be familiar with Govinda’s Restaurant, especially if you’re on the lookout for delicious vegan and vegetarian food. With the much-loved mother restaurant on the mainland, Govinda’s has opened up their counterpart on the peninsula, Govinda’s at the Beach. It’s a small affair on the Railay walking street, and you can take your food to go and eat it on nearby benches, on the beach, or wherever you want. You won’t have to worry about sneaky monkeys snatching your food if you venture too far inland, because chances are you won’t make it that far before devouring everything yourself – the food is delicious! The menu isn’t huge, but it doesn’t need to be with options like the vegan or cheese empanadas, hummus sandwich and vegan burger. With Indian food being a specialty of theirs on the mainland, you can find the beach variety here with flavourful aloo masala, or go for something a little further west with our favourite, the falafel burger. With such great vegan and vegetarian options in such a great location, you might expect Govinda’s at the Beach to be on the pricey side, but you can think again because the prices are fantastic. A vegan chicken sandwich or New York style hot dog will cost you only 80 THB, which is a steal for such filling flavours. There’s so many reasons why Govinda’s has quickly become one of the most popular stalls on the Railay walking street, so if you see that there’s no queue, get in there fast!
